Quarterback discusses becoming father
DAVIE, Fla. – Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill discussed his most important offseason project on Tuesday night, becoming a new dad.
And his wife, Lauren, posted a picture of their adorable son on her Instagram account on Wednesday with a caption that reads, "completely in love with the blessing God gave us. We love you Steel Ryan! Born July 23, 2016, 9 lbs, 8 oz."
Ryan Tannehill said that his son is named Steel.
"We had a buddy named Steel, just kind of liked the name and wanted something a little different," Tannehill said.
The quarterback joked, "Hopefully it'll push him into being a tough kid."
Tannehill praised his wife for delivering his bundle of joy.
"My wife's loving it," he said.
"I'm loving having a kid. She's just a champ for pushing out a 9-pound, 8-ounce baby. ... Kudos to her for doing that."
Tannehill is in his fifth season as the Dolphins quarterback.
It will be his first season playing under new head coach Adam Gase.
