Bolt runs in men's 200-meter semifinal

Jamaican already has world record in event

Usain Bolt will run for the second leg of his historic "triple-triple" on Thursday night after qualifying for the men's 200-meter final in Rio.

The Jamaican sprint star advanced from Wednesday night's semifinals by recording a time of 19.78 seconds to qualify.

The world's fastest man already holds both the world record at 19.19 seconds and the Olympic record at 19.30 in the 200m.

Bolt already completed the first leg of his "triple-triple" in winning the 100 meters on Sunday night at Rio's Olympic Stadium, marking the third straight Olympics he has won gold in the event.

If he does the same in the 200m, the last piece to his historic performance would be the 4x100m relay. The qualifying heats for the relay are on Thursday morning with the final on Friday night.
