Usain Bolt runs in men's 200-meter final

American Merritt finishes in 6th place

Usain Bolt won gold in the men's 200-meter final Thursday night in Rio to complete the second leg of his historic "triple-triple."

By winning the race, the Jamaican sprint star earned his second gold medal of the Rio Games. He won the 100 meters on Sunday night, marking the third straight Olympics he has won gold in the event.

Now that he's done the same in the 200 meters, all that's left for Bolt's historic feat is a third-straight gold in the men's 4x100-meter relay. If Bolt helps his team to victory in Friday night's relay final, he would have nine career Olympic gold medals and would complete his long talked about "triple-triple."

Andre De Grasse of Canada won silver in the race and Christopher Lemaitre won bronze.

The only American in the final, LaShawn Merritt, finished in sixth place.
