American Galen Rupp finishes in Rio marathon

Rupp wins bronze Sunday

 

American Galen Rupp won the bronze medal in the marathon at the Rio Olympics Sunday.

Rupp, a 30-year-old Portland, Oregon, native, also placed fifth in the 10,000-meter race in Rio.

The former University of Oregon runner is competing in his third Olympics, having won silver in the 10,000m at the 2012 London Games and placing 13th at the 2008 Beijing Games.

Also running for the US were Jared Ward and Meb Keflezighi.

Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya took gold in the race and Fevisa Lilesa of Ehtopia took silver.
