MIAMI – The Marlins lost the series finale to the Royals, 5-2, Thursday night as the defending World Series Champs took two of three in Miami.

Alcides Escobar homered and drove in two runs for Kansas City.

Marlins pitcher Tom Koehler allowed four runs.

Jeff Francoeur, who was acquired in a trade the night before, made his Marlins debut with a pinch-hit appearance and legged out an infield hit.
