No. 10 Hurricanes to host No. 23 FSU with Jimbo Fisher focused on 'contenders,' 'pretenders'

Seminoles coach says 'Canes will test character of FSU players

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The rivalry and rankings should say it all, but to Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher, Saturday's showdown between the No. 23 Seminoles and 10th-ranked Miami Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium seems like its actually bigger than the storied rivalry.

Fisher repeatedly stated during his news conference Monday that his players are unified as a family, but "no one around here is used to losing."

FSU is currently 0-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

Fisher said the clash with the 'Canes will test the character of his players.

"Right now, you're gonna find out the pretenders and the contenders on your team and who they really are and what they wanna be and their true character. That's what this game is all about. It isn't about all the media. It isn't about all the money. It isn't all that other. That's what it's about."

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. Saturday on Local 10.
