Hurricanes guard Rashad Muhammad suspended first 3 games of season

Junior sat out last season after transferring from San Jose State

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami junior guard Rashad Muhammad has been suspended for the first three games of the basketball season for a violation of team rules, the school announced Tuesday.

Muhammad will sit out games against Western Carolina, North Florida and Penn.

The Las Vegas native will be eligible to play beginning Nov. 24 against Stanford in the first round of the AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando.

Muhammad sat out last season after transferring from San Jose State, where he led the Spartans in scoring each of his first two seasons.

Miami opens its season Friday night at home against Western Carolina.
