MIAMI – New Florida International football coach Butch Davis will retain two members of the current coaching staff.

FIU announced Monday that Davis will keep secondaries coach Bobby Babich and running backs coach Tim Harris Jr. in 2017.

Babich, who just completed his first season at FIU, was named interim defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the final eight games after Ron Turner was fired. He will return to the role that he had to begin this season.

Harris spent the last two seasons at FIU, which increased its totals in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in each of the last two years. He helped junior running back Alex Gardner become the school's all-time leading rusher.

"I am thrilled that Bobby Babich and Tim Harris Jr. are going to be part of the FIU coaching staff," Davis said in a statement. "Not only are they both outstanding coaches, but they are both good men."

Babich and Harris are currently on the road recruiting for FIU and were unavailable for comment.
