PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The Florida Gators will culminate the college football bowl season on Local 10.
No. 20 Florida will meet No. 21 Iowa for the fourth time in school history when the Gators and Hawkeyes travel to Tampa on Jan. 2 for the Outback Bowl.
It will be the third Outback Bowl appearance between the schools since 2003. The Hawkeyes beat Florida 37-13 in the 2003 Outback Bowl, while the Gators defeated Iowa 31-24 in the 2005 Outback Bowl.
Kicking off the bowl games on Local 10 will be Houston and San Diego State. The Cougars and Aztecs will meet in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 17.
Technically, the bowl season begins hours earlier between a pair of Division I Football Championship Subdivision schools. North Carolina Central will take on Grambling State in the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta. Now in its second year, the Celebration Bowl pits the champion of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference against the champion of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
No. 19 LSU faces No. 15 Louisville on New Year's Eve in Orlando for the Citrus Bowl. The Cardinals have one of the best quarterbacks in the country in sophomore Lamar Jackson, while the Tigers have one of the nation's best running backs in junior Leonard Fournette.
