FIU adds former Gators star Aubrey Hill as wide receivers coach

Hill replaces ex-Miami player Kevin Beard, who left for Tennessee

MIAMI – Butch Davis has turned to a former Florida Gators star to take over as wide receivers coach at Florida International.

FIU announced Thursday that Aubrey Hill has joined the coaching staff, replacing departed wide receivers coach Kevin Beard, who joined the Tennessee Volunteers after fewer than two months on the job.

"We've hit a home run in adding Aubrey Hill to the FIU coaching staff," Davis said in a statement. "He's a heck of a coach and an outstanding recruiter. He's got a tremendous ability to develop wide receivers. He will make our team that much better."

Hill played for Steve Spurrier at Florida from 1991-94, helping the Gators to a 43-10-1 record and three Southeastern Conference championships in that span. He amassed 18 touchdowns in his college career.

The Miami native most recently served as head coach of Miami Carol City Senior High School, leading the Chiefs to a state championship last season. He previously coached wide receivers at Florida, Miami, Pittsburgh, Elon and Duke.

FIU also announced the promotion of Allen Mogridge to assistant head coach.
