CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami Hurricanes and Florida State Seminoles clashed on the baseball diamond Friday night with both teams desperate for a win.

The game featured two early home runs, starting with Romy Gonzalez, who hit a solo blast in the bottom of the second inning that gave the 'Canes a 1-0 lead.

But with the game tied at one in the top of the fifth inning, Dylan Busby hit a three-run home run that just stayed fair down the left field line, giving the Seminoles a 4-1 lead.

Jim Voyles (3-0) pitched 3.0 innings of relief for the Seminoles to earn the win.

Junior lefthander Jeb Bargfeldt (4-3) took the loss for the 'Canes in his first Friday night start.

Both teams entered the game at .500 in ACC play and fighting for their postseason lives. The Seminoles haven't missed the NCAA tournament since 1977. The streak is second only to Miami, which last missed out an NCAA tournament berth in 1972.

Miami (18-20, 9-10 ACC) will host the Seminoles for the second game of the three-game series Saturday night.
