MIAMI – A day after missing out on Gordon Heyward, the Miami Heat are apparently making sure another free agent target does not slip through their fingers.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports Dion Waiters is finalizing a deal with the Heat.
That deal is reportedly for 4-years and worth $52-million.
The news comes hours after the Knicks had reportedly set their sights on bringing Waiters to New York City.
Despite injuries, Waiters was a big part of the Heat's sensational second half of the 2016-17 season in which the team went 30-11 and barely missed out on a playoff spot.
In his lone season with the Heat, Waiters had a career year averaging 15.8 points per game.
The move comes a day after Miami lost on free agent Heyward who chose to leave Utah and sign with Boston.
