MIAMI – Miami business man Jorge Mas reached out to Derek Jeter to join forces in a bid to buy the Miami Marlins, but according to the Miami Herald, Jeter refused the offer.

The Herald reports Jeter is still focused on retaining full control of both the business and baseball side of the Marlins, however past reports have stated the Jeter group remains short on cash.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred recently issued a "no comment" this week to Barry Jackson of the Herald when asked how close the Jeter group was to raising enough funds to finalize their bid.

Past reports stated current owner Jeffrey Loria's asking price was $1.3 billion.
