Gase feels Dolphins handled Timmons situation correctly

Head coach won't elaborate on details

DAVIE, Fla. – As the Dolphins start preparing for the Jets, the questions Wednesday continued to focus on linebacker Lawrence Timmons.

Head coach Adam Gase was asked why Timmons went AWOL before the team's opener.

"That's one of those... Everything dealing with that, we're just going to keep in-house," Gase said. "We've handled it the way we feel like we need to handle it. And really, I don't have anything to add to that."

Gase said he would decide later if Timmons is allowed to rejoin the team.

The Dolphins brought in linebacker help by trading for Stephone Anthony from New Orleans.

"Yes, this has been going on for a while," Gase said. "It just finally happened and we're excited that we had an opportunity to add somebody to our roster that we feel like can help us."

Gase said that Timmons will not practice with the team this week and will not play Sunday against the Jets.

As for the team's culture, Gase said, "I think every situation is different and I would say that you can be forgiven if the right steps are taken."
