PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Florida Atlantic head coach Lane Kiffin took to Twitter on Monday to call out a CBS Sports writer who suggested that the first-year Owls head man is waiting by his phone about the open Tennessee job.
Kiffin has had plenty of fun on Twitter before, and he seemed to be having it again Monday when he took a jab at Dennis Dodd, who wrote an article on CBSSports.com titled "As Tennessee again finds itself engulfed in flames, Lane Kiffin waits by his phone."
As Tennessee again finds itself engulfed in flames, Lane Kiffin waits by his phone Not waiting at all! Getting this team ready to win its 9th straight against a great north Texas team. Come to the championship here in Boca Dennis at #thefaU @espn https://t.co/GJ83xJqejm

The article, which Kiffin posted on his verified Twitter account, suggests that Kiffin would be interested in returning to Tennessee, where he spent one season in 2009 before bolting for Southern California.
Tennessee recently fired Butch Jones after five seasons in Knoxville and was reportedly set to hire Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano -- that is until the school received backlash for Schiano's alleged involvement in the cover-up of the Jerry Sandusky sex scandal at Penn State.
Kiffin was quick to fire back at the article.
The Owls (9-3, 8-0 Conference USA) have won eight straight games, are bowl-bound for the first time since 2008 and preparing to host North Texas in their first-ever C-USA Championship appearance.
