BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic won't have to travel for its first bowl game since 2008.
The Owls (10-3) will stay home to face Akron (7-6) in the Boca Raton Bowl. The game will be played Dec. 19 at FAU Stadium.
FAU has won nine consecutive games since its 1-3 start under first-year head coach Lane Kiffin. Along the way, the Owls claimed the Conference USA championship with an undefeated season in league play.
The Owls rank 10th nationally in scoring offense behind running back Devin Singletary, who leads the nation in scoring.
Akron finished 6-2 in the Mid-American Conference under sixth-year head coach Terry Bowden, who is no stranger to Florida. His father was legendary Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden.
