Miami to host Georgia Tech

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes are giving a big honor to former skipper Jim Morris.

Miami (10-2) will retire Morris' No. 3 jersey Friday night when the 'Canes hosts Georgia Tech (8-4).

In 25 seasons at Miami, Morris won 1,090 games, made the NCAA postseason for 23 straight years and reached the College World Series 13 times.

Miami won national championships in 1999 and 2001 under Morris.

Friday's game will be particularly meaningful for Morris. He also coached at Georgia Tech from 1982-93.

Jim Morris was head baseball coach at Georgia Tech from 1982-93, guiding the Yellow Jackets to nine consecutive NCAA tournament berths and four Atlantic Coast Conference championships. Georgia Tech was 504-244-1 in 12 seasons under Morris.
