Miami has a party planned for the members of the Team USA men’s hockey team to celebrate their Olympic gold.
To avoid the massive blizzard in the northeast, the team is set to arrive at Miami International Airport on Monday afternoon.
ITA Airways flight 9080 arrived around 2:15 p.m., and soon after the players were seen coming out of Concourse J greeter’s lobby at Door 22 on the third floor.
There at MIA to welcome the players to South Florida was Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
“We’re always ready,” she said of team coming to South Florida. “This is something we’ve all been watching. As soon as we heard they might be coming this way, we started mobilizing.”
Also at the airport were dozens of fans who couldn’t wait to welcome the hockey heroes back to their home soil.
Many stopped for photos and autographs.
From there, the players headed to 1 Hotel South Beach to drop off their gear before heading out for a night of celebrations.
Cote, a Korean steakhouse in Miami’s Design District, and E11ven, a nightclub in Downtown Miami, plan to host the best hockey players in the world.
The nightclub, at 29 NE 11th St., will open at 9 p.m. and roll the red carpet for the players at 10 p.m. Admission with open bar until midnight is about $540.
The team ended Canada’s Olympic gold medal dream.
The big victory by the Americans included an incredible performance in between the pipes by goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.
