MIAMI — About 30,000 FIFA World Cup fans invaded Bayfront Park to witness soccer history before big screens on Wednesday in downtown Miami.
For two weeks, teams from 48 countries have been taking turns daily. The FIFA Fan Festival has encouraged passionate patriotic displays.

The tournament’s first phase involves matches within four-team groups. A match’s victory means a team advances with 3 points.
The Group C teams — Brazil, Haiti, Scotland, and Morocco — were all playing their last group-stage matches at 6 p.m. in Miami and Atlanta.
Only two advanced to the tournament’s second phase: The Round of 32, which already included the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia.

Brazilians arrived with four points to play against Scotland, which had three points, at the Miami Stadium. Brazil advanced with three more points after beating Scotland 3-0.
Morocco arrived with four points and advanced with three more points after beating Haiti 4-2 in Atlanta, Georgia.
