FIU women knocked out of Sun Belt tourney

Middle Tennessee tops Panthers 63-53

The FIU women's basketball team was beaten in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference tournament Monday 63-53 by Middle Tennessee.

FIU's star player Jerica Coley was held to nine points.  Coley was the NCAA's third-leading scorer, averaging nearly 24 points a game.

The Panthers did not attempt a free throw, which head coach Cindy Russo said was a first in her career.

The loss left the Panthers with a record of 22-10, 12-7 in conference play.
