Hurricanes WR Ahmmon Richards out for rest of 2017 with injured knee

Standout receiver injures knee in practice ahead of ACC title game

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes have suffered another major blow on the injury front.

Wide receiver Ahmmon Richards, who broke Michael Irvin's freshman receiving record in 2016, injured his knee in practice on Wednesday and is out for the rest of the season.

Richards has played through a variety of injuries much of the year, still catching 24 passes for 439 yards and three three touchdowns.

He is the latest Hurricanes star to suffer a season-ending injury. Tight end Christopher Herndon suffered a knee injury in the team's loss to Pittsburgh and running back Mark Walton played only four games before seeing his season end because of an ankle injury.

The 'Canes will face Clemson for the Atlantic Coast Conference title Saturday night on Local 10. Coverage kicks off at 7 p.m.
