The Cardinals beat Virginia 38-21 shortly before No. 7 Miami (8-0, 6-0 ACC) was set to host third-ranked Notre Dame (8-1) at Hard Rock Stadium.

Even if Miami loses its final three regular-season games, the Hurricanes are assured of a trip to Charlotte by virtue of Virginia's loss.

Miami will face No. 4 Clemson (9-1, 7-1 ACC) on Dec. 2 at Bank of America Stadium. The Tigers defeated Florida State 31-14 to clinch the ACC Atlantic Division.

The Hurricanes haven't won the ACC since joining the league in 2004.
