No. 11 Hurricanes have moved on from FSU win, remain focused on bigger goal

Winner of Saturday's Miami-Georgia Tech game will be atop ACC Coastal Division

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 11 Hurricanes finally did last weekend what no other Miami player had done since 2009: They beat Florida State.

Now, they have to stay focused on their goal of winning the Atlantic Coast Conference.

To do so, they'll have to navigate through a competitive Coastal Division.

That begins Saturday, when Georgia Tech (3-1, 2-0 ACC) visits Hard Rock Stadium for a nationally televised game against Miami.

Senior wide receiver Braxton Berrios, who caught eight passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns in Miami's 24-20 win in Tallahassee last Saturday, said the team spent Saturday night and Sunday celebrating the end of a seven-year losing streak to the Seminoles.

"Ever since then, it's been Georgia Tech," he said. "We really made a point, too, because in years past, when we've lost to Florida State, there's been a hangover. We've lost a few games after that. Now, this year, it can't be a good hangover. We can't rest our hat or stop working because we got that win. Now, we have to still move on and try to turn that page and not let that game affect our next."

Miami has owned Georgia Tech in recent years, winning seven of the last eight meetings and four straight at home. The Hurricanes (4-0, 2-0 ACC) were playing in the old Orange Bowl the last time the Yellow Jackets beat Miami in South Florida.

Georgia Tech enters the game undefeated in ACC play and confident, having won each of its last three games by large margins since losing to Tennessee by a point in overtime on Labor Day evening.

Miami also owns a nine-game unbeaten streak dating to last season, when the 'Canes won their final five games. Miami hasn't lost at home since Oct. 15 of last year.

The winner of Saturday's meeting will take sole possession of first place in the Coastal Division.

"This division is crazy," Miami quarterback Malik Rosier said. "Every team we play -- Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, those are really good teams. Georgia Tech, those are great teams we have to play down the road. North Carolina, Pitt, you can lose to any one of those teams if you're not ready. They're great offenses, great defenses. We just have to come out every week prepared."
