Seminoles QB Deondre Francois out for season, per report

Third-ranked Florida State to start true freshman James Blackman

ATLANTA – Things just went from bad to worse for the No. 3 Florida State Seminoles.

The Tallahassee Democrat is reporting that sophomore quarterback Deondre Francois will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury in the fourth quarter of Saturday's 24-7 loss to top-ranked Alabama at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Florida State hasn't confirmed the report, saying that head coach Jimbo Fisher will provide an update on Francois' injury Monday.

With Francois out, the Seminoles will turn to true freshman James Blackman for the home opener against Louisiana-Monroe. Blackman was rated the nation's No. 24 quarterback by ESPN out of Glades Central High School in Belle Glade.

No. 18 Miami visits Tallahassee in two weeks.
