Fernandez impressive in rehab game

Pitcher working his way back from Tommy John

JUPITER, Fla. - Jose Fernandez took another big step forward as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

Fernandez threw a rehab game with the Miami Marlins on Monday.

Fernandez struck out 7 batters in three innings.

According to reports, the radar gun was topping out at 97 miles an hour.

Fernandez will see more action against the Tampa Bay Rays minor league squad.

The Marlins haven't put a specific timetable of Fernandez's return.

Right now, Fernandez, Henderson Alvarez, and Mat Latos are all on the disabled list.
