MIAMI – Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton tied the MLB record with 18 home runs in the month of August, so he more than earned the National League Player of the Month award for the month of August.
The award was announced Sunday afternoon as the Marlins played a series finale against the Phillies in Marlins Park.
Stanton's stats were out of this world in August as he finished with those 18 HR to go along with 37 RBI and a batting average of .349.
Manny Machado of the Orioles was named the American League Player of the Month.
