New Marlins ownership to replace David Samson, report says

Report: Samson out as Marlins president

MIAMI – The Derek Jeter group that has a sale agreement to purchase the Marlins will reportedly show current team president David Samson the door.

That's according to ESPN's Dan Le Batard.

It was Samson who confirmed this past weekend that the Jeter group had indeed signed a sale agreement to buy the club for $1.2 billion dollars. It was unclear if Samson would be staying with the Fish in some capacity once the sale would be completed, but it seems that is no longer the case.

Samson said MLB owners are expected to vote on the sale in September and if it's approved the deal could possibly be completed in October.
