MIAMI – The Marlins purge has evidently begun as the team has traded pitcher David Phelps to the Mariners in exchange for four minor league players.
Miami will receive pitchers Pablo Lopez, Brandon Miller, and Lucas Schiraldi from Seattle, along with outfielder Brayan Hernandez.

The trade was announced Thursday.
Hernandez is considered to be the true prospect of the deal for the Marlins. The 19-year-old is currently playing in the low-A minor leagues.
In 44 appearances this season as a set-up reliever, Phelps has a 3.45 ERA with 51 strikeouts through 47 innings.
