Louis Delmas is accused of resisting arrest without violence.

PALMETTO BAY, Fla. – A former Miami Dolphins safety was arrested Monday after he refused to stop interrupting a police officer who was conducting a DUI investigation, police said.

According to a Miami-Dade police report, Delmas was a passenger in a pickup truck that was pulled over about 2 a.m. at Old Cutler Road and Southwest 157th Terrace in Palmetto Bay.

The officer wrote in the report that Delmas "began yelling at the officer, interrupting the investigation."

Delmas, 29, was told numerous times not to interrupt the investigation, but he refused, the officer wrote.

The driver of the truck, Andry Madrigal, 27, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and knowingly driving with a suspended license. Police said he was traveling 76 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Delmas was a second-round pick of the Detroit Lions in the 2009 NFL draft. After five seasons with the Lions, Delmas spent the 2014 season with the Dolphins. He hasn't played in the NFL since.

The North Miami Beach Senior High School graduate was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he smiled for the camera as his arrest photograph was taken. He was released from jail on a $500 bond.
