SUNRISE, Fla. - The Florida Panthers have given general manager Dale Tallon a contract extension.

The team announced on Wednesday that Tallon will be staying in South Florida for several more years.

The Cats were able to reach the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade.

As per club policy, terms of Tallon's new deal were not released.

One of Tallon's key moves was hiring head coach Kevin Dineen in June of 2011.

Dineen led the team to the Southeast Division title.
