DAVIE, Fla. - New Miami Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey is working under a 2-year contract.

Multiple sources told ESPN that Hickey was signed to a short-term deal.

The typical contract for a General Manager is between 3 and 5 years.

The Dolphins interviewed many candidates before finally selecting Hickey from Tampa Bay's front office.

Hickey's contract has the same length left as head coach Joe Philbin.

In his two years in Miami, Philbin has a record of 15-17.
