Bridgette Matter joined the Local 10 News team in July 2021. Before moving to South Florida, she began her career in South Bend, Indiana. She then spent six years in Jacksonville as a reporter and weekend anchor.
During her time there, Bridgette covered the Pulse Night Club tragedy in 2016 and was the first in the country to obtain additional documents about the gunman and the venues he cased in the months before. She also extensively covered the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, exclusively interviewing one of the accused killers before their arrest.
Bridgette is passionate about the crime and justice system, creating two successful true crime podcasts highlighting local unsolved cases in Jacksonville. She was also interviewed by CBS 48 Hours ‘NCIS: The Cases They Cannot Forget’ for her coverage of a local cold case.
Bridgette was chosen to fly with the elite Navy Blue Angels in 2019. She also spent 24 hours on a nuclear Navy Submarine submerged in the Atlantic Ocean and has covered multiple hurricanes.
She was raised in Central Florida and earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. In her off time Bridgette is a hobby still photographer and loves to cook and travel.
