Smartphone users turn on device 40 percent of time for no reason

MIAMI – To take a page from Jeff Foxworthy's playbook; if you turn on your smartphone for no apparent reason, you may be an addict.

And you are not alone.

A new survey showed that 40 percent of smartphone users unlocked their devices without any purpose.

According to Studyfinds.org, the survey found the average user unlocked their phone about 28 times a day, or more than 10,000 times a year. 4,000 of those times were declared to be compulsive, meaning the user had no real use for the phone at the time.

2,000 smartphone users in the United Kingdom made up the survey commissioned by Casumo.

Incredibly, the survey revealed the top ten percent of smartphone users opened their phones 60 or more times a day.

Read that again...more than 60 times a day.

But according to the report, only around 30 percent of people who took the survey say they are addicted to their phones.

Yeah, right.
