PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — In a historic vote, the Miami-Dade Commission finally greenlit a state-of-the-art mental health treatment center.
And after years of politicking and back-and-forth over funding, there was finally a lot of love in the room.
It took some tweaks and changes and some assurances of money to get the unanimous vote through.
Commissioner Raquel Regalado championed the project through from the beginning with retired Judge Steve Leifman, who spearheaded it all.
She joined “This Week in South Florida” on Sunday to discuss the center and other issues.
