Tropical Storm Elsa has been producing hurricane-strength wind gusts along the Jersey Shore, and its center is sprinting toward the eastern end of Long Island and then on across southeastern New England.

After Elsa become the first hurricane of 2021 and the earliest “E” storm in Atlantic history, scientists are increasing their projections for this season.

Elsa is a bit weaker over the Carolinas this morning in terms of the wind, but it’s still dumping heavy rain in spots. So local flooding is likely to be an issue until it’s past later today.

Tropical Storm Elsa was in the Gulf of Mexico when it turned some streets in Florida’s Cedar Key into rivers. The water didn’t flood any homes. Most of it had subsided by Wednesday evening.

All eyes are on Tropical Storm Elsa as it makes its way up the Gulf Coast. Overnight, it weakened from a Category 1 hurricane back to a tropical storm, but northwest Florida is still expected to be hit with winds near 70 miles per hour.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center has warned of life-threatening storm surges, flooding and isolated tornadoes.

Tropical Storm Elsa brought strong winds and heavy rainfall to the Florida Keys on Tuesday as it moved north in the direction of Tampa, where it could strengthen to a hurricane again.

The center of Tropical Storm Elsa is just about to move over the south coast of Cuba. It will emerge into the Florida Straits tonight.

Despite Elsa weakening back to a tropical storm on Saturday, Monroe County has declared a local state of emergency as the storm system could still bring heavy rainfall, flash flooding, storm surge and strong winds to the Florida Keys on Monday and Tuesday.

Florida remains inside Tropical Storm Elsa’s cone of probability, but the long-range forecast path remains uncertain. South Florida could feel its impact early next week. Thunderstorms could increase.

The whole gang returns in the highly-anticipated sequel "Frozen 2." The theory got even bigger once social media started circulating a story by NPC Daily headlined "IT'S OFFICIAL: Disney announces Elsa will be a lesbian in Frozen 2" in March. The problem was NPC Daily is a satire site and the story is totally not true. Elsa's struggle to come to terms with her powers in "Frozen" marked her as both a feminist and an outsider. And don't look to the woman who voices Elsa, actress Idina Menzel, to be able to tell us either.

Disney via CNN(CNN) - "Frozen 2" will feature some very interesting music choices. Demi Lovato had covered "Let It Go" on the end credits to the first "Frozen" movie. Other artists on the soundtrack include Kacey Musgraves singing "All is Found" and Weezer singing "Lost in the Woods." Additional songs include titles, "Some Things Never Change," "When I Am Older," and "Show Yourself." The sequel's soundtrack will be released on Nov. 15.

(CNN) - We can't let it go, let it go. Disney released a new trailer for the "Frozen" sequel Monday and it looks suitably frosty -- and packed with adventure. Along the way they must battle a mysterious storm, massive ocean waves, an array of monsters and other forces that threaten our favorite characters. Fans have eagerly been awaiting the followup to the smash 2013 animated movie, which raked in more than $1.27 billion at the worldwide box office. The first trailer for the new movie was released in June, but this new one reveals more of the story.

Later, wildcard Ahn overcame a leg injury to down the error-strewn 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, 6-3, 7-5. Townsend reached the top of the junior world in 2012 but is seeking her first title -- or semifinal -- at the highest level. Bianca Andreescu, currently a teen phenom herself, is Townsend's next challenger after the Canadian beat last year's Australian Open champion, Caroline Wozniacki, 6-4, 6-4. "This means a lot," Townsend said through tears on court to ESPN. I didn't really know why it was bothering me. On court after Thursday's win, Townsend gestured toward her player box, giving credit to her coach, Donald Young Sr."Every person says they've been through a lot," Townsend said.

Halep will be ruing the match point she missed, too, a makeable forehand return as her foe served and volleyed. Townsend incredibly approached the net 105 times against one of the game's top counterpunchers, and even though her percentage of points won -- 60 -- wasn't overly high, the 23-year-old ultimately won the most important ones. Townsend was in tears after collecting her first top-10 win, having been so close at Wimbledon when she held a match point on Kiki Bertens. She trailed Nina Stojanovic in the final round of qualifying by a set and 5-1 in a second-set tiebreak.
