SXSW plots in-person film fest with 'Atlanta,' 'Lost City'
After the pandemic forced the South by Southwest Film Festival to turn virtual the last two years, the Austin, Texas, festival is plotting a largely in-person event this March that will feature the premieres of the third season of Donald Glover’s “Atlanta,” the latest from Richard Linklater and the Sandra Bullock-Channing Tatum comedy “The Lost City.”.

Virus delays filming of 2 seasons of 'Atlanta' until 2021
LOS ANGELES Earn and Paper Boi were last seen flying to Europe on "Atlanta, but they won't touch down until sometime next year. Glover and the other series' writers have completed the scripts for seasons three and four, with plans to tape them back to back. One season is to be shot primarily in Europe and the other in Atlanta. A lag time already was expected for the return of the Emmy-winning Atlanta, which last aired new episodes in May 2018. Earlier this year, Landgraf suggested season three would debut in January 2021, with season four likely to follow that fall.
More LGBTQ characters on television than ever before
iStock/Rikke68(CNN) - A record-breaking number of LGBTQ characters will appear on broadcast television by the time this year's season is over. Of the 120 LGBTQ broadcast characters, 62 (52%) are people of color. Similarly, 48% of recurring LGBTQ characters on cable are people of color, a 2% increase from last year. Just 41% of the 153 LGBTQ characters are people of color, marking a 7 percentage point drop from the previous year. GLAAD reports 33% of broadcast and 30% of cable LGBTQ characters are lesbian, both jumps from the prior year.
New 'American Crime Story' season to focus on Clinton impeachment
(CNN) - The next installment of FX's "American Crime Story" franchise, set to debut weeks before the next presidential election, will revisit a scandal that rocked politics. The cable network on Tuesday announced "Impeachment: American Crime Story," a new season of the anthology series that FX says will unravel the story behind the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton. Annaleigh Ashford has been cast as Jones, while Beanie Feldstein and "American Crime Story" vet Sarah Paulson will play Lewinsky and Tripp, respectively. The new season is set to debut Sept. 27, 2020, roughly six weeks before the next presidential election. "American Crime Story" has previously covered the trial of O.J.
'Atlanta' renewed for another season by FX
Donald Glover's "Atlanta" has been renewed for another season at FX. HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - "Atlanta" Season 4 is happening. FX is standing by its award-winning comedy with an order for an additional season, the network announced Tuesday. FX renewed the Donald Glover-created series for Season 3 back in June 2018. "Atlanta" has in two seasons picked up multiple award nominations and wins, including a Golden Globe for best TV comedy, a best comedy actor Emmy for Glover and a Peabody.
