The Historic Hampton House will host “The Greatest Weekend,” Feb. 25-27, with films, entertainment and guest speakers who will reminisce about the boxer, his challenges and achievements. For a moment, it seemed the Hampton House was destined to close its doors as well. Now, they hope to get The Historic Hampton House rebuilt, up and running, and fully functioning. “I remember the first time I walked through the doors and felt the Hampton House,” Smith said. From the 1950s to the '70s, the Hampton House thrived as an after-hours hangout for community members and celebrities. By the early 2000s, the Hampton House was on the brink of demolition, but a grassroots campaign to save the landmark succeeded. After a multimillion-dollar renovation and a 15-year battle, the Hampton House reopened as the Historic Hampton House Cultural Center in 2015. Enid Pinkney, founding president and CEO of the Historic Hampton House Community Trust, deserves much of the credit for saving the motel. “We would leave work, go home, and get dressed to go to Hampton House,” Pinkney tells New Times.

Enjoying a big performance about 25 miles from his hometown of Yulee was something new for Henry. He managed just 13 yards as a rookie in 2016, followed by outings of 92, 57 and 44 yards in front of friends and family. Henry had 170 yards on 17 carries in the first 30 minutes, including a 36-yard touchdown run. He added a 47-yard scamper early in the third as the Titans (9-4) started to pull away. AFC South-leading Tennessee clinched its fifth consecutive winning season and moved a step closer to securing a playoff berth.

NFL 100 commercial definitely took it to the house
Maybe the most talked-about Super Bowl commercial of this season took place before the game actually began. Before kickoff on Sunday, the NFL aired a “NFL 100” commercial to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the league, and it gave people chills -- in a good way. The ad features 12-year-old football prodigy Maxwell “Bunchie” Young, a native of Los Angeles who is already a YouTube sensation. The commercial then finishes live at the Super Bowl LIV, with Young leading other youth football players representing each of the league’s 32 teams onto the field before kickoff.
