Ray Liotta, the actor best known for playing mobster Henry Hill in “Goodfellas” and baseball player Shoeless Joe Jackson in “Field of Dreams,” has died.

Denzel Washington the actor has some 60 films under his belt, plus two Oscars, and at 66 is universally regarded as one of the all-time greats.

They both carved out sterling reputations as military and political leaders over years of public service.

Dean Stockwell, a top Hollywood child actor who gained new success in middle age, garnering an Oscar nomination for “Married to the Mob” and Emmy nominations for “Quantum Leap,” has died.

In fact, "Silence of the Lambs" swept the 1992 Oscars, becoming only the third film in history to win best film, best director, best actor, best actress and best adapted screenplay. "Silence of the Lambs," for example is a psychological thriller in addition to being a horror film. Whereas a movie like "Poltergeist" is a supernatural horror film or "Shaun of the Dead" is a comedic horror film. "If you define what the horror genre was before 'Silence of the Lambs,' it wasn't all goofy slashers," Thompson said.

Byrne: The film is going to be in the New York Film Festival and at drive-in screenings.
