It took a little longer than expected, but Washington State seems to be rolling. The Cougars' defense is proving to be stout as evidenced by their performance the past two weeks. The state of Washington has set a deadline of next Monday for all public employees — including the Cougars coach — to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

It's the third Washington State game that has been postponed or canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Cal (1-3) and Washington State (1-2) are struggling to qualify for postseason play. “It's the right decision,” Washington State athletic director Pat Chun said. Washington State coach Nick Rolovich joked to the team's radio announcers that perhaps Cal and the Cougars should engage in a snowball fight in snowy Martin Stadium instead. A few dozen Washington State players were warming up on the field when the game was canceled.
Pac-12 responds to football players threatening opt-outs
The Pac-12 has set Sept. 26 as the start of its 10-game conference-only football schedule. A letter from Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott, dated Aug. 3, was sent to 12 football players leading the #WeAreUnited movement. The players say they have been communicating with more than 400 of their peers throughout the Pac-12. Pac-12 football teams are scheduled to begin preseason practices Aug. 17 and the league's conference-only regular season is set to start Sept. 26.
