Marlins designate Wei-Yin Chen for assignment, add six to 40-man roster

MIAMI - The Miami Marlins have designated left-hander Wei-Yin Chen for assignment, parting with a pitcher they owe $22 million. President of baseball operations Michael Hill said the Marlins parted with Chen to create more room for young talent on their roster. Chen will receive $5 million during the 2020 season and $5 million on Nov. 30, 2020. The Marlins also added six players to its 40-man roster Wednesday.
