Davie police Sgt. Mark Leone said a Dodge Neon struck two females who were crossing the street.

Leone said authorities believe the victims are teenagers who possibly are students at the nearby high school, but their identities are not yet known.

He said the victims were taken as trauma alerts to Broward Health Medical Center.

According to Leone, the driver remained at the scene and he is cooperating with police.

Leone said authorities do not believe that speed was a factor.

Police said 136th Avenue was closed to traffic while authorities investigated the circumstances surrounding the crash and worked to clear the scene.
