Crash closes westbound lanes of bridge


MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A crash involving a motorcycle closed the westbound lanes of the MacArthur Causeway early Tuesday morning.

Miami Beach police said a Camaro rear-ended a motorcycle shortly before 2:30 a.m.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash, but it remains under investigation.

Local 10 News arrived as the motorcycle and car involved were towed from the scene.

Traffic was blocked on the bridge that connects Miami to Miami Beach between Alton Road and Fountain Street. Eastbound traffic was not affected.

Drivers were advised to use the Julia Tuttle Causeway or the Venetian Causeway as alternate routes.
