Garbage truck catches fire, shuts down EB lanes on Dolphin Expressway

Oil spills onto expressway, authorities say

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A garbage truck fire that resulted in an oil spill shut down all lanes on the Dolphin Expressway Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The fire was reported in the eastbound lanes and traffic was backed up to the Palmetto Expressway.

Authorities said all lanes were blocked after Northwest 72nd Avenue.

Sky 10 was above the scene just before 1:30 p.m. as the Progressive Waste Solutions truck was parked on the side of the highway. Several Miami-Dade Fire Rescue trucks were also at the scene. 

No other details were immediately released.
