Tractor-trailer overturns in southbound lanes of I-95

Wind knocks truck on its side; driver walks away with scratch

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A tractor-trailer overturned Tuesday morning in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95, bringing traffic to a standstill on both sides of the highway.

Lou Danis told Local 10 News reporter Ben Kennedy that his truck got knocked over on its side after strong wind crossed the highway.

Danis said he crawled out of the truck through a side window. He walked away from the crash with just "a little scratch" on his leg.

Southbound lanes reopened at about 11:40 a.m after the tractor-trailer was removed, and northbound lanes, which were shut down because of debris and a sign tossed onto the highway, opened a short time later.

"Branches and leaves started hitting the side of my window, and then, like, the metal sign hit the front glass of my car and it shattered it," David Matienzo told Local 10.

No injuries were reported.
