Pedestrian taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – One person was injured Friday afternoon when a car jumped the curb in front of a supermarket and daycare on Sunset Drive.

The crash was reported shortly before 4 p.m. on Southwest 108th Avenue and Sunset Drive near the Presidente Supermarket and Kayleen's Learning Center.

Witnesses told Local 10 News reporter Michael Seiden that an elderly man who was trying to park lost control of his vehicle, hopped the curb and struck another elderly man who was standing outside.

"He started revving his engine. He started putting it into reverse, putting it in drive and came straight into the building," Gabriel Gajate said. "There was another elderly gentleman also standing on the side by the daycare. Unfortunately, he was hit by the vehicle."

Authorities said the victim was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center.

The victim's condition was not immediately released.

The crash is under investigation.
