Pages of school textbooks litter Florida highway after crash

Debris scatters across toll road near Pine Hills Road in Orange County

ORLANDO, Fla. – Pages of school textbooks littered State Road 408 in Orange County after a single-vehicle crash forced officials to close the toll road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

All eastbound lanes of S.R. 408 were blocked Monday morning near Pine Hills Road. One lane reopened just before 7 a.m.

The FHP said a woman driving the car was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Orange County Public Schools said she is not a teacher or employee with the school system.

Video from a WKMG news helicopter showed a light-colored car in the middle of the toll road with papers scattered across the highway.

The road was scheduled to reopen after crews removed the papers.
