1 dead, child, woman airlifted to hospital after collision in Miami Gardens

Unclear whether anyone else injured

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A child and a woman were airlifted to a hospital Tuesday after a collision in Miami Gardens, authorities said.

The crash was reported shortly after 5 p.m. in the area of Northwest 213th Street and 37th Avenue.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said there were at least three people trapped in one of the vehicles.

The crash was caused when the driver of a Corvette crashed into a sedan, in which a child and another person were inside of, fire officials said. 

The child was airlifted to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital and listed in critical condition.

A woman, who was driving a Corvette, was airlifted to Aventura Hospital and Medical Center in serious condition.

Authorities said the person driving the sedan, who was trapped inside the vehicle, died.

No other details were immediately released.
