Police: ‘Distracted driving’ leads to crash in Hallandale Beach

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — One person was injured Monday morning after “distracted driving” led to a two-vehicle crash in Hallandale Beach, authorities said.

According to Hallandale Beach police, the crash occurred at the intersection of Federal Highway and Northeast Third Street.

Police said one vehicle failed to stop at a red light, resulting in the collision.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel had to extricate one person from the second vehicle.

That individual was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

All lanes have reopened after the crash, however police warned that drivers might still experience delays until the scene is fully cleared.

Police said the crash appears to have been related to distracted driving, but the investigation remains ongoing.

  • Keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel at all times.
  • Avoid using mobile devices while driving.
  • Set navigation, music, and other controls before starting your trip.
  • Remain alert at intersections and always obey traffic signals.
