MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A family’s surveillance camera recorded when a driver crashed into their home on Sunday in southwestern Miami-Dade County’s Richmond Heights neighborhood.
Four were injured after two cars crashed at Douglas Drive and Monroe Street. One car crashed into a third car, and another crashed into a house.
“The gray car was coming from that side at like 100 mph, hit the red car,” Errol Gunter said.
The impact pushed both the red and gray cars through the house’s metal fence. The red car struck the parked sports utility vehicle.
Gunter said the gray car crashed just about 16 inches away from the living room, where his mother was. She wasn’t among the injured.
“My sister told me that she heard a big, big sound outside, and when they came out, they saw both cars,” Gunter said.
The four injured, including three whose condition was critical, were inside the red and gray cars. The family at the house had to evacuate until authorities deem it safe for them to return.
“Every time I think about how close it came to my mom, my eyes fill with water,” Gunter said.
