Troopers said the tanker truck was traveling south on the Turnpike when the driver lost control.

They said the truck overturned and collided with the center median concrete barrier wall.

Authorities confirmed that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sky 10 flew over the scene around 10:45 a.m., where a heavily charred tractor-trailer could be seen as firefighters continued spraying water on it. Light smoke could still be seen rising from the vehicle.

The crash shut down Florida’s Turnpike in both directions as authorities investigated the circumstances leading up to the crash. It was not immediately clear what caused the driver to lose control of the truck.

Authorities said all lanes of the Turnpike have since been reopened.

No other details about the truck driver or crash were immediately released.
